WASHINGTON (AP)–U.S. President George W. Bush will ignore the recommendation of the bipartisan Iraq Study Group that he include Syria and Iran in an effort to staunch Iraqi bloodshed, according to an official who requested anonymity.

The study group recommended diplomatic approaches to Iran and Iraq as a way to try to help quell the violence in Iraq.

Bush will outline his new Iraq policy Wednesday night in an address to the nation. He will call for about 20,000 additional U.S. troops to be sent to Iraq, as well as around $1 billion to shore up Iraq’s battered economy and create jobs.
